Cat C+E
An Articulated Large Goods Vehicle is also known as Cat C+E, Class 1 or Artic.
A law change in November 2021 means you can now train and pass your practical test in a Category C+E (Class 1) vehicle without having to pass your Category C (Class 2) test first. This is called a Direct Access Course and if you pass the Category C+E test you will by default gain the Category C licence too.
If you do decide to train and test for your Category C licence first, either you or the DSA examiner will post your licence along with a copy of your pass certificate to the DVSA. When your licence is returned to you, the provisional entitlement for the C+E (CE) will automatically show online. You do not have to sit another theory test for the C+E.
Your licence will be valid until your 45th birthday when the DVSA will send you a renewal and a medical form.
Please contact us if you require a renewal medical.
