Cat B+E

This is a Car or Van weighing up to 3½ tonne with a trailer.

This is normally needed for a Car or Van towing a Caravan, horsebox or trailer.

You no longer need to pass a test to obtain your B+E licence, however we would still recommend you complete some training sessions to familiarise yourself with the driving. We will provide you with a certificate at the end your training course.

Cat D1

A Minibus up to 16 passenger seats is also known as PCV.

You need to be at least 18 years old to obtain this licence. You will need to have a medical so you can apply for the provisional entitlement on your licence. We can arrange a medical for you and help you complete all of the forms to apply for your provisional entitlement.  You will then need to complete two theory tests; a multiple choice and a hazard perception, which we can also arrange for you.

We recommend that you come in for an assessment drive once you have your provisional licence back so you can see exactly how many days training you require and obtain an accurate quotation.

Once you have obtained your Cat D1 licence you will then be able to apply for your Cat D1+E or your Cat D (Coach / Bus licence).

After passing your Cat D1 test either you or the DSA examiner will post your licence along with a copy of your pass certificate to the DVSA.  When your licence is returned to you, the provisional entitlement for the D1+E (D1E) will automatically show online  You do not have to sit another theory test for the D1+E.

Your licence will be valid until your 45th birthday when the DVLA will send you a renewal and a medical form.

Please contact us if you require a renewal medical.

Cat D1+E

A Minibus up to 16 passenger seats with a trailer over 750kg (the combined weight cannot exceed 12,000kg) is also known as PCV.

You can only apply for this licence once you have passed your Category D1.

Your licence will be valid until your 45th birthday when the DVLA will send you a renewal and a medical form.

Please contact us if you require a renewal medical.

Cat C1

A Rigid Medium Goods Vehicle is also known as a Rigid up to 7½ tonne.

You must be at least 18 years old. You need this licence if you are looking to become a Paramedic, drive a horse box or a motor home, or become a delivery driver.

You will need to have a medical so you can apply for the provisional entitlement on your licence.  We can arrange a medical for you and help you complete all of the forms to apply for your provisional entitlement.
You will also need to complete two theory tests; a multiple choice and a hazard perception, which we can arrange for you.

We recommend that you come in for an assessment drive once you have your provisional licence back so you can see exactly how many days training you require and obtain an accurate quotation.

Once you have obtained your Cat C1 licence you will then be able to sit your Cat C1+E or your Cat C (you can however jump straight to your Cat C without doing your C1 licence).

Your licence will be valid until your 45th birthday when the DVSA will send you a renewal and a medical form.

Please contact us if you require a renewal medical.

Cat C1+E

A Rigid Medium Goods Vehicle with a trailer is also known as a Rigid up to 7½ tonne with a trailer.

If you need to tow a trailer with your truck, then you need to pass your C1+E.  Trucks that are heavier than 3.5 tonne but less than 7.5 tonne are C1 Vehicles - to drive these vehicles with a trailer you need a C1+E licence.

Civil engineers towing mini diggers or mini excavators; Arboreal Specialists and Tree Surgeons towing chippers and mulchers; Recovery Vehicle drivers and Recreational Vehicles towing leisure craft, cars, motor bikes or boats behind their RV's, may all need the C1+E entitlement.

Once you have obtained your Cat C1 licence you will then be able to apply for your Cat C1+E.
